Hey there and welcome to The Social Action Hub!

We are a small, independently registered charity formed in 1993 concerned with improving the life chances and increasing sustainable opportunities for those who experience deprivation, isolation and marginalisation in our local community, providing a wide range of projects and services for families, children and vulnerable adults.

Previously known as the Rainworth and Blidworth Detached Youth Project, the charity was founded in response to the social and economic issues that arose after the closing of local mining pits. The charity's original purpose provided detached youth work to disillusioned locals to guide young people to positive outcomes, tackle anti-social behaviour and broaden opportunities in the area .
As of 2025, the Social Action Hub is now a thriving community hub offering a diverse range of projects and services, whilst maintaining the core ethos the hub was designed for.

Our Social Supermarket has moved! We are now at a larger location with expanded Revive Charity Shop, more floor space, more donations as well as our Uniform Exchange, a new Coffee & Croissant Station and Meal Deal options perfect for locals! You can now find us at 2 Sherwood Parade, Rainworth, NG21 0JP next to Hillview Surgery! Donations are still much needed & appreciated as this is just phase one!

Juniors' Playscheme
We provide daily playscheme sessions for ages 5 -12 during school holidays.
Volunteering & Work Experience
Emergency Food
We provide emergency food parcels to local residents via referrals from professional bodies.
Youth Community Fridge
Free food available for under 25's every Tuesday
C-Card
We provide a range of sexual health & relationship support, including the provision of condoms.

Community Learning
Alternative Provision
We offer alternative provision for children and teens outside of mainstream schooling. ​

Forest School
We provide weekly sessions of environmental education in our customised outdoor learning environment for ages 5 -12 during school holidays.

School Uniform Exchange
We offer second-hand and surplus uniform at a fraction of the cost working with local schools!
Chatty Cafe
To combat loneliness and isolation in the local community we host a chatty cafe and various events every Thursday!
